About Rough Magic Productions

Rough Magic Productions Ltd., was established by Keir Alexander, award-winning film-maker, novelist, opera librettist-producer-presenter, actor, stage manager, teacher and graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Keir’s stories tend to feature ordinary people who happen to possess extraordinary talents, and Rough Magic is no exception. Written primarily as a homage to Shakespeare’s The Tempest, it also shines a light on Shakespeare’s company of players, The King’s Men, and in particular the boy-girl actors in it, who were likely to be adulated on the stage but persecuted in the streets.

Our rehearsed reading showcase of Rough Magic, aims to bring in investors to help it on its way to becoming a full-scale theatrical production. To this end, Rough Magic have been fortunate to obtain the services of Paul and Mark McGann as its two lead actors, ably backed up by a bright and diverse supporting cast with its own shining array of skills and talents.
